BERTIE BOLTZ IT

Poor Bertie Aherne had to finally call it a day. It was to a certain extent sad to see the man who along with his party colleagues changed the face of Ireland hopefully for ever. Its impossible to comprehend the intense pressure Bertie was under in the past 12 months. I can't imagine how certain individuals would react if their personnel affairs were dragged through the mud in the manner Bertie Ahernes was. Unfortunately, such was the publicity surrounding Bertie and the Tribunals, he was forced to call it a day. What is very irritating, is that Fine Gael's Enda Kenny, appeared to have one mission and one mission only, to batter Bertie Aherne into submission. Thats fine in one particular sense, but, all other government business appeared to take second stage as Enda Kenny went on an all out frontal assault on Bertie Aherne. Is that what you would call good opposition? That in my view is not how a democracy works. He was obsessed with Bertie Aherne. When I looked at the TV footage of the Fine Gael party standing on the steps of Dail Eireann the day Bertie stood down, I was stunned. With the exception of one or two, Each and everyone of them were unknowns, and that is scary. The fact that none of them have put themselves in the peoples mind's as potential leaders of the country only serves as proof that Fine Gael do not have individuals within their ranks who are good enough to lead the nation and they are content to sit back and launch public tirades at opposition members.
